"If it doesn't please everyone it's not a bad thing..." - hmv.com talks to Hinds

As they release their debut album Leave Me Alone (you can preview and purchase it on the right-hand side of the page) we chatted with Spanish indie punks Hinds about the making of the record and their never-ending tour...

Your album is out today, how are you feeling ahead of release? A bit nervous or excited to get it out?

"Both of course! But mostly excited, we feel we've done the album we wanted, so if it doesn't please everyone it's not a bad thing or deception at all! This Friday will be history for us!"

Have you had the album finished for a while? Did it take a long time to record?

"Man, we have it completely finished since June! That's why we feel so anxious to share it!"

"It didn't even take long time to record because it's just impossible, you should be rich if you want to spend a long time in a studio. It took a long time to write, a short time to record, a long and annoying time to mix, but it's incredible to play live."

You worked with Diego Garcia of The Parrots on the album, why did you choose to work with him?

"Because he was the first one who recorded us! Ge recorded 'Bamboo' and 'Trippy Gum' and we really understood each other. He's one of our best friends and he has a great taste in music!"

What kind of producer was he?

"We are not sure because we never have worked with different people so we really don't know how intrusive he was or how difficult to work with we are when it comes to our sound..."

What is the song on the album that took the most work to get right?

"That would be 'Fat Calmed Kiddos', we even re-recorded some drums and the rhythm guitar, sometimes is just difficult to make decisions when mixing gives you all the options in the world..."

What kind of album is this lyrically? Is there a theme or concept that ties it together?

"L O V E."

Why did you decide on the title of Leave Me Alone?

"Because we want to stay real."

What are your plans to take the album out live? Will we see you for the summer festivals?

"Of course! This is the never ending tour!"
