Bruce Springsteen and Ciara named among most dangerous artists to search for
Bruce Springsteen, Ciara, rapper Flo Rida and DJ Armin Van Buuren have been named as some of the most dangerous artists to search for in a survey conducted by internet security firm McAfee.
The internet security firm's study looked into the possibility of contracting malware or a computer virus when going on sites displayed after a search of a celebrity's name.
Springsteen ranked high on the list alongside the likes of Jon Bon Jovi and US TV host Jimmy Kimmel. DJ Armin Van Buuren was the highest-ranking musician, with results suggesting that users have a 19.33% of hitting an online threat, Springstreen scored 18.82% and Bon Jovi 17.64%.
Gary Davis, a spokesperson for McAfee, said of the study: "Most consumers are completely unaware of the security risks that exist when searching for celebrity and entertainment news, images and videos online, sacrificing safety for immediacy."
He continued: "Cyber criminals capitalise on consumers' attention to breaking celebrity news and leverage this behavior to lead them to unsafe sites that can severely infect their computers and devices and steal personal data."
