Friday Night Lights' director Peter Berg to make feature-length Rihanna documentary

Peter Berg, creator of Friday Night Lights and directors of movies like The Kingdom and Lone Survivor, is to direct a feature-length documentary about Rihanna.

Berg's company 45 Films will produce and make the film, which will document the Bajan star's rise to fame and millions of record sales.

The film has been described to Deadline as an "unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life and how she’s ascended to become a global icon", with Berg saying he was interested in documenting "a young artist at the top of her professional field" and has promised that the film will be "much more a character study than a music film".

Berg and Rihanna have previously worked together on 2012 blockbuster Battleship, which marked the star's first foray into acting.

Rihanna's currently preparing her eighth studio album for release. You can watch the video for the album's first single  'FourFiveSeconds', which features both Paul McCartney and Kanye West, below.
