hmv.com previews… 15 Albums still to come in 2016

2016 has already given us huge albums from Drake, Radiohead, The 1975, Beyonce and many more, but there’s plenty of big LPs still left to come later in the year.

To get you excited, we've put together a guide to 15 of the best of them, most are confirmed to hit shelves this year, some are up for pre-order and we're pretty sure about the rest of them, but you never know. Here we go...

Green Day

It’s been four years since the band’s 2012 album trilogy, but they'll return in October with a raw and lean new LP which promises a return to their roots. Produced by the band themselves for the first time in their career, new single 'Bang Bang' is a fiery blast of energy and the sound of a band looking and feeling hungry again.

What’s It Called?

It'll be titled Revolution Radio.

When will we get it?

It's due on shelves on October 7th. You can pre-order it here.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

The godfather of gloom and his band return with their 16th studio album next month. Recorded at Retreat Studios, Brighton with further sessions at La Frette Studios, France, the album, the LP promises to be a dark one, inspired by the tragic death of Cave’s son back in 2015.

What’s It Called?

Skeleton Tree, which is suitably bleak.

When will we get it?

September 9th. It’s available for pre-order here.

Two Door Cinema Club

The Northern Irish trio have taken their time putting together the follow-up to their 2012 second LP Beacon, but they’ve done it and will return in October with a new album.

Produced by Jacknife Lee, the album is a move away from the indie pop of their earlier LPs and into dancier territory.

What’s It Called?

It'll be called Gameshow.

When will we get it?

October 14th. You can pre-order it here.

Zara Larsson

The Swedish pop star has scored big hits with ‘Lush Life’ and ‘Never Forget You’ as well as collaborations with Tinie Tempah and David Guetta and will unveil her second full-length effort this autumn.

What’s It Called?

That’s still TBC at present.

When will we get it?

We’re looking at October time.

Warpaint

The California foursome return with another album of groove-laden gorgeousness next month, this time working with original producer Jacob Bercovici.

What’s It Called?

It is titled Heads Up.

When will we get it?

September 23rd, it’s up for pre-order here.

Bastille

Dan Smith and his eccentric pop troupe return with their long-awaited second album next month.

Recorded once again with producer Mark Crew this is a bigger and far grander album than their debut, and, with an arena tour already booked, an album designed for big, big crowds.

What’s It Called?

It has been given the title Wild World.

When will we get it?

September 9th. You can pre-order it now here.

Beck

The singer’s 10th studio album, which he confirmed would arrive before the year’s end earlier this summer, is a return to the groove-laden eccentricity of his early days.

It’ll include 2015’s funktastic single ‘Dreams’ and the wonk pop wonder ‘Wow'.

What’s It Called?

Nothing on that yet.

When will we get it?

We’re looking at October.

Craig David

It’s been six years since the R&B big-seller released an album, but he’ll return later this year with a LP that’ll likely include hit singles ‘When The Bassline Drops’ and ‘One More Time’.

What’s It Called?

It’s going to be titled Following My Intuition.

When will we get it?

September.

Twin Atlantic

The Scottish rockers return with a fourth full-length effort next month, an album recorded in sunny California under the supervision of Jacknife Lee, who also helped out on the band’s previous LP Great Divide.

It’s a spikier and more charged album, as you can hear on lead-off single ‘No Sleep’.

What’s It Called?

GLA, it’s an ode to their hometown of Glasgow.

When will we get it?

September 9th, it’s up for pre-order here.

Olly Murs

He’s only been in business as a full-time popstar for six years, but his fifth studio LP is due late this year, cementing the Essex singer’s reputation as pop’s hardest worker.

Unlike 2014’s incredibly upbeat Never Been Better, the singer has revealed that this album will be inspired by his split with long-term girlfriend Francesca Thomas. Expect ballads as well as recent single 'You Don't Know Love'...

What’s It Called?

No word on that so far.

When will we get it?

We’re looking at November for this one.

Norah Jones

Four years after Little Broken Hearts, her experimental album with Danger Mouse, and three years after she collaborated with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong on Foreverly, an LP of Everly Brothers’ covers, Jones has clearly worked her experimental twinges out. Her new album is a return to the laid-back jazzy ways of Come Away With Me and you can read more about it here.

What’s It Called?

Day Breaks. A lovely sunny title.

When will we get it?

October 6th. Pre-Order is here for you.

Busted

They said it would never happen, but Charlie Simpson has reunited with his old bandmates and they’ve recorded a brand new album. From early interviews they’ve talked it up as a full on pop record, but there's been nothing more concrete. They have unveiled one new song, a wonky electropop ditty named 'Coming Home', but that won't make it on to the album.

What’s It Called?

No word on that yet.

When will we get it?

November 11th, it’s available to pre-order here.

Metallica

Eight years after their last studio album Death Magnetic the metal titans are finally returning with a new album.

It’s all change for the band, it’ll be their first LP for their own label Blackened and their first with Johnny Cash producer Greg Fidelman. It’s unknown whether ‘Lords Of Summer’,  a track they’ve been playing live for a couple of years, will make the album.

What’s It Called?

Still untitled at present.

When will we get it?

If we had to bet we’d say mid October.

Lady Gaga

It’s been three years since the singer’s sprawling epic Artpop, a period that she’s largely dedicated to her acting career, including an award-winning turn in American Horror Story, but a new album is coming.

As well as reuniting with producer RedOne, who helped her create ‘Just Dance’, the singer has also been hard at work with Mark Ronson and Tame Impala singer Kevin Parker.

What’s It Called?

Nope, not this one either.

When will we get it?

We’re looking at October for this one.

Korn

The nu metallers might be elder statesmen these days, but they show no signs of slowing down and will release their 12th studio album later this year.

Produced by Nick Raskulinecz, best known for his work with Foo Fighters, the album is a dark-hearted slab of molten metal, complete with a guest appearance from Slipknot’s mainman Corey Taylor.

What’s It Called?

The Serenity Of Suffering

When will we get it?

October 21st. You can pre-order it here.
