hmv.com previews... British Summer Time 2015

Now in its third year, British Summer Time descends on Hyde Park later this month for a string of huge shows. hmv.com will be there to review each night, but to get you ready for the gigs, which include Taylor Swift bringing her 1989 tour to London, the return of The Strokes and a farewell show from The Who, we present a full preview of British Summer Time…

The Strokes – June 18th

New York’s finest will make their only UK appearance of the year on the opening night of British Summer Time. There’s no new album to promote, but this is the band’s first London show in five years and their first since the release of both Comedown Machine and Angles. Expect a full on ‘Greatest Hits’ set from the fivesome.

 

Supporting Cast Includes…

Beck and Future Islands lead the way as main supports, with Temples, Public Service Broadcasting, The Wytches, Gengahr and a couple more besides. 

 

Get There Early For…

The Wytches and their incredible psychedelic grooves. They put on a brilliant show.

 

Blur – June 20th

Three years on from their last appearance at Hyde Park, the band celebrate the release of their new album The Magic Whip with a massive show. Expect plenty of new stuff, but also plenty of old stuff too…

 

Supporting Cast Includes…

Metronomy and The Horrors are the big name guests, but the rest of the bill is pretty stellar too, with Drenge, Teleman, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Fufanu also on the bill.

 

Get There Early For…

Drenge. The duo have more colossal riffs and gigantic choruses than any band should and always bring it live.

 

 

Kylie Minogue – June 21st

The Princess of pop brings her Kiss Me Once tour to a close at Hyde Park and has promised to treat the crowd to a pulsating show packed as many hits as she can fit in.

 

Supporting Cast Includes…

Disco legend Grace Jones is the main support, but there will also be star turns from rising stars Years & Years, iconic pop funkers Chic, Mika, Foxes and Bright Light Bright Light.

 

Get There Early For…

Chic. ‘Good Times’, ‘Le Freak’, ‘I Want Your Love’, there are just so many hits!

 

The Who – June 26th

The iconic rockers will bring their The Who Hits 50! tour to Hyde Park, two days before they headline the final night of Glastonbury Festival.

 

Supporting Cast Includes…

Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs and Johnny Marr are the outstanding names on a very good bill that also includes the likes of Gaz Coombes, The Rifles and Sleaford Mods.

 

Get There Early For…

Gaz Coombes and watch him bang out the best tunes from his brilliant new album The Matador.

 

Taylor Swift – June 27th

The singer will bring her stupendously successful new album 1989 over for a huge show, complete with a full stadium production.

 

Supporting Cast Includes…

John Newman and Ellie Goulding are the big hitters, but Vance Joy, Rae Morris and Sheppard are also well worth checking out.

 

Get There Early For…

Rae Morris, the singer will be bringing out the best from her stunning debut album Unguarded and is a total must watch.
