hmv.com previews… Bushmills Live 2014

Throughout the year, we're going to be bringing you a comprehensive preview of the summer's best festivals. This week we combine two of our favourite things: music and whiskey. It can only be Bushmills Live…

Where?

Bushmills Distillery, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

When?

11th - 12th June, 2014.

How did last year go?

Bushmills Live is still in its infancy compared to most festivals, but for the short few years it has been running they’ve packed in the likes of Jake Bugg and last year’s headliners, Of Monsters and Men.

The only festival in the world to be staged inside a whiskey distillery (and the world’s oldest at that), it’s a unique experience and at a capacity of only 700 it’s a pretty intimate affair, but that’s how it’s intended to be and, actually, it makes the whole thing rather special.

Who's playing this year?

This year the festival is being headlined by Manchester indie types The 1975, who will be supported by Tired Pony, the supergroup featuring members of Snow Patrol, R.E.M and Belle & Sebastian. There will also be appearances from Luke Sital-Singh, Levity Breaks, James Vincent McMorrow, David C. Clements, Rubblebucket and Matthew and the Atlas.

How much?

Well, one of the things that makes Bushmills Live unique is that you can’t actually buy tickets for the festival - instead, those wanting to go can enter a competition via the distillery’s Facebook page and 700 lucky winners get to go for free.

So, that’s free entry, some great bands and lots of whiskey. We anticipate this is going to end in a monumental hangover…

Stay tuned as we'll be bringing you reviews of the best moments from Busmills Live 2014 over the next couple of days!

Many thanks to Tourism Ireland for kindly arranging our trip!
