hmv previews… Download Festival

Throughout the year, we're going to be bringing you a comprehensive preview of the summer's best festivals. This week's it's rock's holy grail, on a stage in Donington Park, it's Download Festival…

Where?

Donington Park, big airfield just off the M1.

When?

June 13 – 15, pray for good weather…

How did last year go?

Really well, Iron Maiden, Rammstein and Slipknot played spectacular sets, and, while it didn't quite sell out, it came pretty dam close.

Who's playing this year?

Metal behemoths Avenged Sevenfold will headline the opening night, with nu-metal titans Linkin Park topping the bill on the second night and Aerosmith closing things out. Also on the roster across the weekend are Rob Zombie, Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon, Alter Bridge, Steel Panther, Trivium, Within Temptation, Killswitch Engage, The Offspring, and best of all, Status Quo…

Any exclusives?

Not only are Linkin Park playing, but they are, in fact, doing their hugely successful debut album Hybrid Theory from start to finish. It's also Avenged Sevenfold's debut as festival headliners, with the likes of Rob Zombie, Bring Me The Horizon, Alter Bridge and more making Download their only UK festival appearance this year.

How much?

You can bag a weekend ticket for £205 with three nights camping, or pay £215 for five nights in the field. Day tickets come in at £82.50 each.
