hmv's Next Big Thing... #119 Emily Warren

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Emily Warren, a voice you'll know, even if it's a name you don't...

Who Is She?

Over the past two years, you'll have heard plenty of 24-year-old singer-songwriter Emily Warren Schwartz's voice. She first arrived on The Chainsmokers' 2015 single 'Until You Were Gone', but she'd been a writer for hire for two years before. The hits under her belt now include Jessie J's 'Masterpiece', Sean Paul's 'No Lie', Little Mix's 'No More Sad Songs' and The Chainsmokers' monster smash 'Don't Let Me Down'. 2017 looks to be the year she goes from strength to strength...

Who Does She Sound Like?

There's a little Regina Spektor in her delivery, plenty of Alanis Morrisette and a little 90's R'n'B in the mix here.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Warren knows her way around a big old hook, we're excited to see what she does on her own terms, rather than as a voice on someone else's track.

Can I Hear Something?

She's all over The Chainsmokers' debut album Memories... Do Not Open, which you can preview and purchase on the right-hand side of the page. You can hear the single she did Frenship below:
