hmv's Next Big Thing... #84 Boston Manor

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Blackpool's very own Boston Manor...

Who Are They?

Formed back in March 2015 in sunny Blackpool, Boston Manor are singer Henry Cox, guitarists Mike Cunniff and Ash Wilson, bassist Dan Cunniff and drummer Jordan Pugh. After a couple of years of relentless gigging, some excellent festival appearances and a well-received EP named Saudade, they're now prreparing to drop their debut album Be Nothing, an LP recorded with Neil Kennedy, best known for his work with pop punkers Neck Deep.

Who Do They Sound Like?

The most obvious calling cards are Brand New and Taking Back Sunday, but there are little bits of darker Blink-182, early Foo Fighters and Fall Out Boy at their most introspective. That said, the influences might be American, but the vocals are very, very British.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Because they write hearty, powerful pop rock with some big, big choruses.

Can I Hear Something?

Of course. Their new single 'Laika' is below for you and their debut album Be Nothing will be available to pre-order from hmv.com in the coming days.
