hmv tips for 2014…Emp!re

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Emp!re, prepared to be knocked sideways by their singer's vocal power…

Who Are They?

Formed in 2012, the band consist of Joe Green, James L'Esteve, Dave Thomas, Matt Mead and Jon Tupper, they've toured solidly over the last two years and, so far, released one mini album titled Where The World Begins.

Who Do They Sound Like?

The first thing to say about Emp!re is their frontman Joe Green has one hell of a voice, we mean like window shattering power, he's got the range of Cedric Bixler, with the intensity of Matt Bellamy and the sheer power of Chris Cornell. Sonically the band play big, ornate, rock songs, reminiscent of Biffy Clyro at their most grandiose, but full of powerful dynamism and drive. Every song feels like a knockout punch.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Like we said, that voice, you've got to hear to here it, it's backed up by so much sonic power too. And, they're even better live…

Can I Hear Something?

You certainly can. The video for their recent single 'Black Hearts' is below and you can download their eight-track mini album from our download store here for just £1.79.
