hmv tips for 2014… Major Leagues

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Australian fuzz-pop quartet Major Leagues…

Who Are They?

They are singer/guitarist Anna Davidson, bassist Vlada Edirippulige, drummer Jake Knauth and singer/guitarist Jaimee Fryer, they hail from Brisbane and formed back in 2012. They've gigged a lot around their native land and released their debut EP Weird Season at the end of last year.

Who Do They Sound Like?

Think Dum Dum Girls and Best Coast and you're probably not too far off. There's plenty of classic surf pop like The Byrds and Beach Boys along with spikier influences like Bikini Kill, The Clash, Sleater Kinney and Pavement at work here.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Their debut EP is a thing of wonder, pure energy, big choruses, relentless melody, a total joy to listen to.

Can I Hear Something?

Damn right. Their catchy as the catchiest cold single 'Endless Drain' is below for you to take in.
