hmv tips for 2014… Morain
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Yorkshire noiseniks Morain, let's see what you make of them…
Who Are They?
Hailing from Wakefield, the band consist of Wil Frost, Jim Allard, Sam Humble and Jamie Matax, formed back in 2011, they've built a small, but dedicated following on the back of hard touring and a slow drip of new tracks, each better than the last. They released their first EP 'Are We Lost', which you can preview here, in 2012, and are preparing their second EP 'World's Apart' for a release in the coming weeks.
Who Do They Sound Like?
Morain have the same shimmering guitars that you'd find powering a mid-period Jimmy Eat World single, but with a lot more bombast to their choruses, a Coldplay with more nuance, a Doves on top of their game, that's about the size of it.
Why Should I Be Excited?
They're a terrific live band, full of energy and vibrancy and their songs have a drive and power that most bands would take years to develop.
Can I Hear Something?
Certainly, their new single 'Who Would've Known' is below for you.
