hmv tips for 2014… The Family Rain

Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s the turn of The Family Rain, three brothers from Bath who love the blues.

Who Are They?

The Family Rain are William, Ollie and Timothy Walker, they're all brothers, hence the name they've opted for. Previously they opted under the name Rock Pirates with their friend Tom Johnson, but ditched that moniker back in 2011 and formed The Family Rain. Since then they've released a series of well-liked singles and EPs and have now completed work on their debut record Under The Volcano, which comes out next month.

Who Do They Sound Like?

They play the kind of bluesy rock that the Black Keys have taken into arenas, full of soul and vigour, but still with plenty of raw edges. You can hear Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors and lots of other classic stuff in there.

Why Should I Be Excited?

They're an incendiary live band, full of power and passion and their debut album is seriously good. That'll do for now...

Can I Hear Something?

For sure! Please find the band's new single 'Trust Me...I'm A Genius' below for your listening pleasure.
