hmv tips for 2014… The Hype Theory

Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s pop punkers The Hype Theory, who look set to have quite the year…

Who Are They?

The band hail from the heart of Essex and were formed in 2010, they've spent the last two years touring relentlessly and released their debut album Captives, which came in the middle of 2013.

Who Do They Sound Like?

With their anthemic choruses, guitar riffs that feel like they've been soaked in red bull, huge sing-a-long breakdowns, the comparisons between The Hype Theory and Paramore go beyond the fact that they are female-fronted pop-punk bands, but there's plenty of other stuff in there too. There's some Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Weezer and plenty of classic pop-punk in there too.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Because they write superbly catchy pop-punk tracks and are an incredible live band. What else do you want?

Can I Hear Something?

Of course, you can preview the band's album Captives by clicking on the album cover on the right hand side of the page.
