Kodaline explain why their new album is called Coming Up For Air

Kodaline have opened up about the reason why they gave their brand new album the title of Coming Up For Air.

Speaking to hmv.com in an interview which will be published tomorrow (February 5th), guitarist Mark Prendergast revealed that the band's hectic touring schedule inspired the title.

He said: "We were on the road for two and a half years, so when it came to recording the album, it felt more like time off than anything, we were staying in one place for a month at a time, you’d get evenings off and to unpack. It was like stopping the machine and coming up for air. It was going back to why we make music in the first place."

Kodaline will release Coming Up For Air on February 9th. The album is the follow-up to the band's debut album In A Perfect World (which you can preview on the right of the page).

The band will tour in support of the album later this month. You can find all the dates here.
