Legendary pianist Liberace set for world tour as a hologram
Liberace, the iconic pianist and entertainer who was immortalised in the 2013 biopic Behind The Candelabra, is to tour the world as a hologram.
The pianist, whose full name was Władziu Valentino Liberace, died in 1987 after a long and distinguised career, but will now be resurrected by some of the same people who staged Coachella’s holographic Tupac Shakur (you can watch that performance at the bottom of the page), with a debut performance scheduled to take place in Las Vegas.
The show has been put together by Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts and makers Hologram USA, who have said that the new hologram will actually be able to "interact with the audience". The Liberace Foundation is a full partner in Hologram USA’s plans, giving the company footage and artifacts to help create the show.
Hologram USA’s Alki David said in a press release of the new announcement: "This is a major step in the evolution of this medium for entertainment", before adding that "the room will be filled with all of the great singer’s charm and charisma".
Jonathan Warren, chairman of the Liberace Foundation, added: "You’ll feel the warmth from his heart, the sparkle of his eye and the pure lightning from his fingertips."
Hologram USA has also promised that a "slate of [further] celebrity resurrection projects" will be announced during the next 30 days.
