Longlist for BBC Music Sound Of 2015 unveiled

James Bay, Kwabs, Wolf Alice and Years & Years are among the 15 acts named on the longlist for the BBC Music Sound Of 2015.

The award was given to Sam Smith in 2014 and has been won by the likes of Adele, Ellie Goulding and HAIM in the past.

The list was compiled from suggestions from 140 music industry experts, including DJs, critics, broadcasters and bloggers.

Also shorlisted are George The Poet, Novelist, Låpsley, Rae Morris, Raury, Shura, Slaves, Shamir, Stormzy, SOAK and Sunset Sons.

Speaking about the list, George Ergatoudis - head of music for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra - said: "If you want to embark on a journey into the future of music, BBC Music's Sound Of 2015 [list] is a brilliant starting point."

He continued: "With around 140 of the UK's key tastemakers taking part, the longlist is wide-ranging, including grime artists, singer-songwriters, an electro-pop band, a garage punk duo and a poet amongst others. It's a list full of talent and promise and I very much look forward to seeing how each artist's story unfolds over the coming year."

The top five acts will be announced daily from Monday, January 5 onwards by BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens.
