Lorde beats Justin Bieber and 5 Seconds Of Summer to top Billboard's ‘music’s most powerful minors’ list

Lorde has beaten off competition from Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Martin Garrix and Earl Sweatshirt to be named as 'music's most powerful minor', a list compiled by Billboard magazine of the most powerful musicians under the age of 21.

The 'Royals' singer, who has enjoyed great success with her debut album Pure Heroine (which you can preview on the right of the page), topped the poll, which also included the likes of Austin Mahone, The Vamps, Madeon and Shawn Mendes.

Speaking about the list in a statement, Billboard said: "These 21 artists have already accomplished a great deal, but are safe bets to continue finding success as they edge towards adulthood. For now they're just kids, but they're the kids that everyone in music is watching."

Lorde is due to release her new single 'Yellow Flicker Beat', which is taken from the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, a sountrack she has curated, on September 30th. The film is released in November.
