My Record Collection by 36 Crazyfists' Brock Lindow

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of 36 Crazyfists' Brock Lindow, his picks are as metal as you like...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"Michael Jackson - Thriller. Watching that mini movie / video on MTV back in the day was pretty badass and that record is still a monster!"

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"That would be Metallica - Master Of Puppets. Probably my very first attempts of watching myself in the mirror with my hockey stick in hand to play air guitar was to this album, You guys should've seen my sweet mullet!"

The record I've played more than any other is…

"I'll pick Pantera's Vulgar Display Of Power. It is the ultimate pump up record, if your lookin' to fire up the team and get the boys ready to rock faces, this is your album. Tried and true and stands the test of time.. RIP DIME".

The record that always make me feel good is…

"I'd say Metallica - ....And Justice For All. I have said it many times but Hetfield and the boys are the reason I wanted to be in a band and this album spoke to me from sun up to sun down in my early teen years. A masterpiece!

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Alice In Chains's Jar Of Flies. Layne Staley is my guy! In high school I Tried to dress like him, sing like him and channel the mood that this man conveyed. No one creates the dark eeriness that A I C still do to this day."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Only Living Witness - Innocents. In my opinion OLW is the most underrated post hardcore band there was, the lyrics that Jonah Jenkins wrote are still unmatched and this record is a time capsule for me and really influenced us as a band."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Judas Priest - Sad Wings Of Destiny. I gravitate to angelic imagery and this is clearly one of the coolest album covers that ever graced the music landscape, not to mention it's Priest for crying out loud!!

The record with my favourite title is…

"Testament  - Dark Roots Of Earth. Another one of my favorite bands is the mighty Testament! Chuck Billy is a bad mofo and his singing style is unmatched by most. This cover and title is so heavy. Cheers to the Bay Area Badboys!"

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"Anything by Kanye West. Period point blank, I don't like this dude!"

The last record I bought was…

"That would be the Black Crown Initiate's The Wreckage Of Stars. I went to see my buddies in Unearth in Brooklyn not long ago and got the pleasant surprise to catch these boys open the show. Pretty crushing live and any time a singer goes from his last note straight through the crowd to the merch booth gets my respect. I went right up to him shook his hand and bought his record, you should too!"

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is…

"The new Deftones. These guys have never let me down and continue to get better every record and live show. The most beautifully heavy crafted moods any band could hope to create, these guys are legends."

The greatest record of all time is…

"Metallica - Master Of Puppets. My favorite band and my favorite metal singer, so all in all these are my guys. Sure I don't love St. Anger but they have my respect for life and I will always support and seek out there live shows until they pass the torch to the next. RESPECT."
