My Record Collection by AFI's Jade Puget

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week it's the turn of AFI and their bassist Jade Puget, let's see what he picks...

Check out a selection of Jade's picks in this playlist...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"This would be The Sex Pistols and The Great Rock and Roll Swindle. Not great but hey, I was 11..."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Black Flag's Jealous Again, there was no shortage of American hardcore in the '80s that reinforced the idea that I could be in a band and play this music, but this was a crucial one."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"This is The Beatles' Revolver. My favourite Beatles album, one of the greatest albums in the history of modern music, why wouldn't it get infinite spins?"

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"This is Somery by the Descendents. It's a compilation album, which means it's nothing but gold from a gold standard band. This album reminds me more of a summer day then blue skies and sun."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"F? A? ∞ by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. It might seem counterintuitive to listen to one of the darkest, most melancholy, most devastating albums ever when you're sad, but it always seems perversely right to me."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"For this one, I'd say Pop and Disorderly by Limp."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"When I was a kid I was always struck by the cover of The Clash's London Calling..."

The record with my favourite title is…

"Probably have to go with I Like It When You Die by Anal C**t."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"I don't understand why Sgt. Peppers is so universally acclaimed when there are several other much stronger Beatles albums. I mean, by any other band's standards, it's incredible, but by their own, it's not one of their best."

The last record I bought was…

"Nothing's Tired of Tomorrow. Great band, great album. We had the luxury of touring with these guys recently, which allowed us to see them decimate stages all over the land."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2017 is…

"In a year where Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and At the Drive-In are putting out new records, there's a wealth of anticipation."

The greatest record of all time is…

"At the risk of being redundant, I'd have to refer back to Revolver, or revolve back to Referrer..."
