My Record Collection by August Burns Red's JB Brubaker

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of August Burns Red axeman JB Brubaker, let's see what he's got for us...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"That was Rock n Roll Part III by a band called Ozma. They sounded like Weezer and self released that album. I bought through their website and borrowed my mom's credit card to order. That album was later re-issued by Kung Fu Records."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"What It Is to Burn by Finch. I was obsessed with Finch my senior year of high school. I thought they were so amazing and that was also around the time I began dabbling with a guitar."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"The Blue Album by Weezer. That record is pretty old now and I still listen to it pretty often. Just a timeless classic for me."

The record that always make me feel good is…

"The Suburbs by Arcade Fire. From the jangly first song until the reprise ending, this album is a great go to for good times."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Somewhere Along the Highway by Cult of Luna. This record is brooding and sounds massive. I don't feel down often and tend to listen to the record regardless of my mood, but if I was feeling down I think this record would be a good fit."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Stay Asleep by Bigwig. Not enough people know this band. They were an awesome hardcore/punk band on Fearless Records who should have been bigger than they were."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"The State of Gold by Matt Pond. I love the colors and the layout. Just really cool artwork."

The record with my favourite title is…

"Catch For Us the Foxes by Mewithoutyou. A cool title for an incredible record. Mewithoutyou are just one of the best."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"Anything by Taylor Swift. Maybe I just don't get it because I'm not much of a pop music fan. I'm just not on board that train."

The last record I bought was…

"Pale Horses by Mewithoutyou and I've been listening to it on repeat ever since. Amazing record."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is..

"Coma Ecliptic by Between the Buried and Me. They are my favorite metal band and are always pushing the boundaries of their music. I am so stoked for this record."

The greatest record of all time is…

"Third Eye Blind's self titled record. Just an incredible record from start to finish. It's hard to say one album is better than all the others, but this is the one that comes to mind. It's certainly in the conversation as far as I'm concerned."
