My Record Collection by Blessthefall's Beau Bokan

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Blessthefall mainman Beau Bokan, he's got a lot of love for Blink-182, less so for Ed Sheeran...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"This is Dr. Dre - The Chronic. I remember walking to Tower Records in 1992 with money I had saved up from random allowance my mom had given me and buying The Chronic on cassette tape. It was the coolest feeling especially seeing the parental advisory sticker on the front. I felt like a true badass."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"This is Blink-182 - Dude Ranch. This album changed my life. I bought it after seeing them live for the first time in 1997. It was also my first show ever. Listening to this album brought me back to the amazing feeling of joy and freedom I had when I was at their concert and in turn made me want to start a band someday so that i could make other kids have that same exact feeling."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"Blink-182 - Enema of the State. Holy crap I think I bought this CD a few times because I played it so many times the CDs would scratch and stop working."

The record that always make me feel good is…

"The Get Up Kids - Something to Write Home About. I have lyrics from the song 'Red Letter Day' tattooed across my chest so that says a lot about how much this album means to me. When my best friend bought his first car we'd drive around everywhere listening to this album. So when I play it today it still bring back those old memories."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"This is Coldplay - X & Y. Man what a great album absolutely packed full of emotion. When I'm feeling stressed or bummed out on the road I pop my headphones in and just relax and let this record help me unwind."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Boys Night Out - Trainwreck. Trainwreck was one of the best concept albums I'd ever heard. The lyrics were so dark and the imagery the band created was so vivid that it really feels like you could be watching a film."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Thrice - The Alchemy Index. I felt that everything Thrice did as a band was very classy and well thought out. The artwork for the Alchemy Index is a perfect example of that."

The record with my favourite title is…

"Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. The title for this album says so much with just a few words. It's also something a lot of people can relate to with the push and pull of good and evil in everyday life. Kudos on the sick title, Brand New."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"This is Ed Sheeran - X. No diss to Ed. But I just wish he'd sing louder or with a little more confidence? Sorry buddy."

The last record I bought was…

"This is Circa Survive - Descensus. Circa is a band that has withstood the test of time and trends. They know what they're good at and what their fan base likes and deliver time and again. I can fully relate."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is…

"Blessthefall - To Those Left Behind. There is literally no other album I'm more excited for than our own! I can't wait for people to hear what we've spent a year creating."

The greatest record of all time is…

"It's got to be Michael Jackson - Thriller. I don't know that I need to elaborate on my decision here so I'll just tell a quick little story. I used to listen to this album and dance along in the mirror trying to imitate all of MJ's slick moves. Everyone now and then you can catch me onstage attempting to moon walk whilst we're performing."
