My Record Collection by Blues Pills' Zack Anderson

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Blues Pills' bassist Zack Anderson and his bluesy collection. Let's dive in...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"AC/DC's 'Back in Black',  I bought it at Wal Mart when I was 9."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Probably The White Stripes' 'Elephant', I loved this when I was 13."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"'Then Play On' by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, I had to buy another copy on vinyl because I played one so much it got worn out and started to sound bad."

The record that always make me feel good is…

"'The Cosmic Truth' by The Undisputed Truth.   The whole album is amazing start to finish."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Al Green's 'Gets Next to You'. Especially the song 'I Can't Get Next to You'. I'm listening to it now..."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Leafhound's 'Growers of Mushroom'.  Great vocals, band, and songs, but they weren't very famous."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion" from The Incredible String Band, by the incomparable Marijke Koger-Dunham.  I don't like the album so much, just love the artwork."

The record with my favorite title is…

"'Tons of Sobs' by Free, maybe I just like the title because I love the music so much."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"99% of what's on mainstream radio nowadays..."

The last record I bought was…

"Population II by Randy Holden"

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2014 is..

"Kadavar 'Live In Antwerp'"

The greatest record of all time is…

"It's impossible to narrow it to just one, but one of the best is Captain Beyond's self titled album.  It's an album you can listen to from start to finish, again and again, and it doesn't get old."

Blues Pills' self-titled album will be released on July 28th and can be pre-ordered now from hmv stores.
