My Record Collection by Catfish and The Bottlemen's Van McCann

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Catfish and The Bottlemen's Van McCann, let's see what records make him tick...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"I can't remember the first record I actually bought, but I remember stealing the first Streets album off my cousin when I was like 8/9. I've still got it infact!"

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"There's this version of 'Caravan' Van Morrison sings live on the film 'The Last Waltz' - you know that movie with The Band? That was and still is the reason I wanted to be in a band."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"Wavelength by Van Morrison."

The record that always make me feel good is…

'''You Can Call Me Al' - Paul Simon! Me and the lads always play this when we're on the way back to the hotels after gigs on the road…. The Drums sound insane on it.''

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"'Geraldine' - Glasvegas, I don't really get down (unless it's on a dancefloor and Michael Jacksons just been slammed on) but this certainly gives me that uplifting feeling, the lyrics are sheer beauty."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"'Jennifer' by Little Comets, I think it's this decades 'You can call me Al!' They are absolute genius pop writers."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"I don't know if it's my favourite of all time but I like that new National album cover for 'Trouble Will Find Me'. The one with the girls face and it's being chopped in half by a mirror…. Sexy."

The record with my favourite title is…

"'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' by Arctic Monkeys."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"I know a lot of people love them but i just never really liked anything from the Beach Boys. I don't know why they came to my head. Sorry Beach Boys!"

The last record I bought was…

"Kanye's new album Yeezus. I'm only 2 songs in but it's class!"

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2014 is…

"There's a band called Broken Hands in Kent, I'm most excited about their album…. Or Dr Dre - Detox, if he ends up doing it."

The greatest record of all time is…

"Live at Montroux - Van Morrison (it's a DVD but it still counts damnit!)".
