My Record Collection by Danny Howard

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of DJ Danny Howard, let's see what he chooses...

The first record that I ever bought with my own money was...

"Is it uncool to say the David Morales remix of Jamiroquai 'Space Cowboy'?"

The record that made me want to be a DJ was...

"This would be Axwell's 'I Found You'."

The record I play more than any other is...

"The Source featuring Candi Staton 'You Got The Love' - Mark Knight remix. Absolute tune."

The record that always makes me feel good is...

"Dennis Ferrer -  'Hey Hey', love it!"

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"A tune by Vario Volinski 'Falling in Love', it's really chilled and it reminds me of the Ibiza sunrise. But I never feel unhappy!"

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is...

"Eric Prydz - 'Every Day'. That should've been a massive hit, but they couldn't clear the sample, so it didn't get the recognition is deserved."

The record with the best cover art is…

"Daft Punk - Discovery! I like things to be simplistic as I think most of the time it can actually be more effective. When I see this record and the tracks that it represents, it reminds me of my first festival experience at Global Gathering in 2006 when they played in their legendary pyramid! At the time I didn't realise, but to have experienced a Daft Punk performance LIVE is something I'll never forget."

The record with my favourite title is...

"This would Alexis Raphael - 'Chicken'."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is...

"I can't do that, its too harsh!"

The last record I bought was...

I don't really buy records any more... but this time I went for Delorean Dynamite by Todd Terje because I needed it for a mix, it's great."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is...

"There's a new Jonas Rathsman tune that I like called 'New Generation'."

The greatest record of all time is...

"That is the hardest question ever! I'm gonna go with Chemical Brothers 'Hey Boy Hey Girl', as it was the tune that I opened my winning Radio One competition mix with and I think it won the crowd over to vote for me. It just sounded really big. So every time I hear it it reminds me of a life-changing moment in my career."

BBC Radio 1's Dance Anthems, which has been mixed by Danny Howard, is available to purchase on the right-hand side of the page.
