My Record Collection by Eliza And The Bear's James Kellegher

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Eliza And The Bear mainman James Kellegher, let's see what he chooses...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"This is Taking Back Sunday's Where You Want To Be. I was supposed to be Christmas shopping and instead I bought this for myself!"

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Underoath - They’re Only Chasing Safety. I remember seeing these guys on a Taste of Chaos DVD. It made me want to be in a proper heavy band."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"This is Tycho - Awake. By a mile!"

The record that always make me feel good is…

"This is Bombay Bicycle Club - A Different Kind of Fix. Reminds me of being at Reading Festival in 2010/11."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"I'll say This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain. It's an overwhelmingly solemn and beautiful album."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"I'll choose Noah and the Whale - First Days of Spring. This album is so so powerful, couldn't be more of a departure from '5 Years Time'."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Tame Impala - Currents. I think it looks great, I'm not very arty. But my eyes like it."

The record with my favourite title is…

"The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace is There. It sounds like yoda."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"The new Kanye, The Life Of Pablo. I used to be a big fan, but it's all become a bit too contrived for my liking."

The last record I bought was…

"Turnover - Peripheral Vision. An introduction from my tour manager Fraz. This album has been on heavy rotation on these long drives."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2016 is…

"Raleigh Ritchie - You’re a Man Now, Boy. Aside from the Game Of Thrones Fame, I saw him a few years ago and instantly wanted to hear more."

The greatest record of all time is…

"I'll pick Arcade Fire – Funeral. One of my personal favourites, and has been for more than a decade."

Eliza And The Bear's self-titled debut album is released on April 8th and is available to pre-order on the right-hand side of the page,
