My Record Collection by Mayday Parade's Jake Bundrick

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Mayday Parade sticksman Jake Bundrick, let's see what he's got for us...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"It's Bobby Brown - Bobby because of the song 'Humping Around'. This song was played all over MTV and the radio and I though it was super catchy."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Green Day - Dookie. Every song on this record was super infectious and inspired me to teach myself how to play guitar."

The record I've played more than any other is...

"Jimmy Eat World - Futures. I got into this band later than most people but I've drawn so much inspiration from this record."

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"You Me At Six - Sinners Never Sleep. This is one of the best live bands I've ever seen and listening to this record brings back so many good memories from our tours together. Fun fact : While on tour with the band during this record cycle, I got a roman numeral 6 tattoo with the band and crew - a 'VI' on my ankle."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Copeland - Beneath The Medicine Tree. Aaron Marsh always knows how to pull on your heart strings and he never stopped on this record."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Hands down My American Heart - Hiding Inside The Horrible Weather. The fact that this record didn't explode in our music scene blows my mind. Great band and even better people. Do your ears a favour and listen to this record."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Every Time I Die - Ex Lives. The imagery features a fan wearing the band's shirt in a chaotic environment and it just matches the sound of the album."

The record with my favourite title is…

"Nirvana - Nevermind. To me that word represented how they felt about the music industry. They wrote songs for themselves and not for anyone else."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"Kanye West - 808 and Heartbreaks. I love how gutsy he was to release a more artsy record but I just never got into this album."

The last record I bought was…

"The Maine - American Candy. This band continues to always try new things and evolve and they've created a sound that's their own."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is…

"All Time Low - Future Hearts. I've always looked up to this band since their EP. Alex Gaskarth's brain never ceases to amaze me."

The greatest record of all time is…

"Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire. From the album title, to the artwork, to the music, this record is incredible."

Mayday Parade's new album Black Lines is released on October 9th and is avaiable to pre-order on the right-hand side of the page.
