My Record Collection by Mike Dignam

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of singer-songwriter Mike Dignam, he's got a lot of love for John Mayer, less so for M.I.A...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"This is Michael Jackson - History. There was four discs!! I must’ve been seven or something."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Funeral For A Friend – Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation. Yes I was an emo kid. Fringe and everything..."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"This is John Mayer - Continuum. I love the musicianship, the songwriting, the production; such an inspiring record."

The record that always make me feel good is…

"This is Maroon 5 – Songs About Jane. Great album."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Adele's 21. That record is just so honest and her voice is stunning; she makes you feel how you’d think she felt when writing the songs."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Hmmm of all time is a pretty big statement but I’d have to say City and Colour – Bring Me Your Love. Don’t get me wrong he’s pretty big, but I think that record is stunning front to back and deserves more credit!"

The record with my favourite title is…

"Not sure why but I love Kings Of Leon - Come Around Sundown!"

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"I never bad mouth people but one artist I don’t get at all is M.I.A."

The last record I bought was…

"That would be The Staves’ new record."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is…

"John Mayer’s new album! Can't wait!"

The greatest record of all time is…

"I struggle answering ‘OF ALL TIME’ questions because that’s just impossible to answer, but, I’m going to be super boring and predictably me and say John Mayer - Continuum. The songs, lyrics, musicianship makes me strive to be better and makes me want to quit all at the same time."

Mike Dignam's new album Fight To Forgive is out now and available to preview and purchase on the right-hand side of the page.
