My Record Collection by Misty Miller

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of rising star Misty Miller, let's see what she chooses...

You can check out a selection of tracks from Misty's picks in the playlist below...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"It was something by P!nk, I can't remember each which album."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"When I was about eight or nine I was really into Avril Lavigne so it's got to be her debut album Let Go."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"This is Lou Reed's Transformer, I adore it."

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"I'll say Lust For Life by Girls. I turn to Christopher Owens' music for most moods.."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"This is hard to choose because that kind of playlist is probably more full! There is something about Oxygen by Willy Mason which always gets me.."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"I love the soundtrack to Harold and Maude by Cat Stevens."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Horses by Patti Smith. No frills, just a great shot of Patti taken by Robert Mapplethorpe. It inspired the cover of my album a lot."

The record with my favourite title is…

"Easy. Dub Side of the Moon by Easystar All-stars."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it by The 1975. I honestly don't get it, any of their music."

The last record I bought was…

"This is Chrissybaby Forever by Christopher Owens. I really recommend it."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2016 is…

"The Phobophobes' debut album. They're good mates of mine and are wicked live so I look forward to hearing what they've cooked up in the studio."

The greatest record of all time is…

"This is impossible to choose so I can only give you my favourite record at the moment, which is Kings and Queens by Jamie T.

Misty Miller's debut album The Whole Family Is Worried is out now and available to preview and purchase on the right-hand side of the page.
