My Record Collection by NEEDTOBREATHE's Bo Rinehart

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of NEEDTOBREATHE and their guitarist Bo Rinehart, there's plenty of good time rock n'roll here...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' Greatest Hit. After this record, I didn't need to buy records for a while."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Magazine By Jump, Little Children. This incredible band from Charleston SC was the biggest common thread of influences to the band when we first got started."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"Raise The Dead by Phantom Planet. This record catches you right away but is one of those few records that get better and more complex with each listen."

The record that always make me feel good is…

"I'd say Without Feathers by The Stills or Good Old Boys by Randy Newman. How can you not smile listening to Randy?"

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones. If that don't pick you up, I don't know what will."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Neon Bible by Arcade Fire. I feel that this record was, no doubt, one of the most influential records in decades for indie, rock, and alternative music and even spread into dance, pop, and electronic realms . Listening back now, you can hear melodies, rhythms, production strategies that are familiar in current music coming out even now."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Spoon's Gimme Fiction'.

The record with my favourite title is…

"The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion by The Black Crowes."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"Here, I guess I'd have to say The Doors by The Doors."

The last record I bought was…

"Borderland by John Mark McMillan. It’s an absolutely stunning record with big ol' roto tom drums!"

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2014 is…

"OURS OF COURSE!"

NEEDTOBREATHE's new album Rivers in the Wasteland will be released in April.
