My Record Collection by Manchester United's Ryan Giggs

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are.

This week, we've got a special treat for you. Today (October 14th) Ryan Giggs, the most decorated footballer in Premier League history, will be honoured at the hmv Football Extravaganza, which raises money for charity Nordoff Robbins.

You might know him best as a flying winger, but Ryan knows his music too, here is his Record Collection...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"It was Musical Youth's "Pass The Dutchie" song during the early 80s."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"I have never wanted to be in a band!"

The record I've played more than any other is…

"I’d go for 'Purple Rain' by Prince or 'Fool's Gold' by the Stone Roses."

The record that always make me feel good is…

"At the moment I’m quite into 'Hideaway by Kiesza. She has done a few others too that always get you in a good mood."

The record I put on to cheer me up…

"I’ll go for the Womack & Womack song 'Teardrops'."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"The 1996 United FA Cup song - Move, Move, Move (The Red Tribe)."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"I’ve got to say the Stone Roses, they’re an iconic part of Manchester."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"I listen to most music but I don’t really get heavy metal!"

The last record I bought was…

"The last one I downloaded was Changes by Faul & Wad Ad."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2015 is…

"Not a clue, can’t answer that one."

The greatest record of all time is…

"There are too many to say, but the ones that stick out for me are Massive Attack - 'Unfinished Sympathy', U2 – 'With or Without You', Michael Jackson – 'Thriller' and 'Fool's Gold' by the Stone Roses."
