My Record Collection by Saint Etienne's Sarah Cracknell

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Saint Etienne's Sarah Cracknell to take us through her most treasured LPs...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"Rock On - David Essex. I loved the sound of it, crazy production I'd never heard before!"

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Parallel Lines - Blondie. I dreamed of being like Debbie Harry!"

The record I've played more than any other is

"Fruit Tree - Nick Drake, although I can think of many more. It's a bit of a cheat as it's a beautiful boxed compilation of 3 albums plus more!"

The record that always make me feel good is…

"I Want You Back - The Jackson 5, gotta' do the moves!"

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"I Believe In Miracles - The Jackson Sisters. 'I believe in miracles, don't you?'"

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Drop Out - East Village, seek it out and have a listen."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"I love The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan sleeve, so carefree and romantic. Also Metal Box - PIL. Can't argue with a round metal box!"

The record with my favourite title is…

"There are many but this is quite funny, 'I've Been Flushed From The Bathroom Of Your Heart' - Johnny Cash."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"You've Got The Love - Florence and The Machine. Love The Source ft Candi Staton and even prefer X Factor's Wagner! Leave it alone Flo!"

The last record I bought was…

"I was press ganged by my kids in to buying 'Happy' - Pharrell Williams. Actually, I didn't need too much persuasion!"

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2014 is…

"I have no idea what's in the pipeline..."

The greatest record of all time is…

"Oh Perleeeese!! In the words of Ralph Wiggum 'that's umpossible!'"
