One Direction revealed as biggest selling touring act on the planet in 2014
One Direction have been revealed as the highest grossing touring artist in the world this year, raking in over $282 million dollars in revenue in the process.
During the course of their 69 shows the band played to 3.4 million fans in stadiums across the world, pushing them into first place, according to Pollstar, the leading trade publication for the concert tour industry.
Justin Timberlake was in second place with $184.7 million in ticket sales, while The Rolling Stones came third with $165.1 million. Katy Perry came fourth with $153.3 million in sales, while Jay-Z and Beyonce's joint tour brought in $109.7 million.
Michael Buble, Lady Gaga, Eagles, Paul McCartney and Bruno Mars made up the rest of the Top 10, with Elton John, Robbie Williams, Fleetwood Mac, Cher and Miley Cyrus all figuring in the top 20.
