Royal Blood shift over 65,000 copies of their debut album in first week

Royal Blood enjoyed a supremely successful week with their self-titled debut album, which sold more than 66,000 copies in its first week, making it the fastest selling rock debut album for three years. 

The Brighton duo released their debut album a week ago (you can read a full interview with them here) and it became the highest-selling rock debut since Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' self-titled debut in 2011, reports the Official Charts Company. 

Ed Sheeran's was Number Two in this week's countdown, with Ariana Grande new at Number Three with My Everything, Collabro at Number Four with Stars and Sam Smith at Number Five with his big-selling debut In The Lonely Hour. Kate Bush re-entered the Top 10 with two of her albums after her 'Before The Dawn' live residency begin earlier this week, The Whole Story is at Number Six and Hounds Of Love at Number Nine. Paloma Faith, George Ezra and Dolly Parton make the rest of the Top 10. 

In the singles race, Alternative pop/folk duo Lilly Wood scored their debut UK Number One with 'Prayer In C', a collaboration with DJ Robin Schulz. Maroon 5 were new at Number Two at 'Maps', with David Guetta at Number Three with 'Lovers Of The Sun', Taylor Swift one place lower with 'Shake It Off' and Nico and Vinz at Number Five with 'Am I Wrong'.
