Royal Mail releases set of stamps to celebrate 50 years of Pink Floyd

Royal Mail have released a new set of postage stamps to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of Pink Floyd.

10 different stamps will be available to pre-order from today (May 26th) and will be formally released on July 7th. Their release marks five decades since the band turned professional.

The stamps will be a mix of the band's classic album covers and a series of shots of the group live in concert.

The covers of The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Atom Heart Mother, The Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Endless River have been chosen for the album covers, with the rest as live shots.

Speaking about the stamps, Philip Parker, Royal Mail's stamp strategy manager said: "Pink Floyd is arguably the most visually literate band of all time, with legendary live performances increasing in ambition over the decades. It's fitting that this iconic British band is recognised with these new stamps".

You can check out Pink Floyd's back catalogue, including CDs, vinyl and merchandise, here in our online store.
