Run The Jewels launch Kickstarter to fund re-recording of their second album 'made from cat sounds'

Last year, rapper Killer Mike and producer / Definitive Jux founder El-P released one of the year's best hip-hop albums – for free. Now they're about to do the same thing again, only this time they're offering fans a range of packages for those who want to pay for a physical copy.

In an email sent out by the duo this week – one that may be the best example of email marketing we've ever seen - they list a range of options that run from basic packages including vinyl and sticker sets, right through to the 'Run The Jewels Retirement Plan Package' which, for anyone with $10m lying around, will see the pair 'retire from music, producing just one track a year for you personally'.

One of the options that has caught fans' eye however is the 'Meow the Jewels Package', which includes the duo re-recording their newly completed second album using only sounds made by cats.

Such was the positive reaction to the idea, the pair set up a Kickstarter fund this week to raise $45,000 for the project. As of now the fund stands at just over $7,000.

Those wanting to contribute can find their Kickstarter page here.
