Sam Smith rules himself out of doing new James Bond Theme

Sam Smith has said that he will not be providing the theme song for the new James Bond movie Spectre.

Smith has long been linked with providing the next Bond theme and said in interviews that he would be keen, but has now said he's heard nothing from producers.

Speaking on Capital FM, Smith said: "I actually have no idea. People seem to think I'm doing it but I have absolutely no idea what's going on. I'm being deadly serious. I really think I would know by now!"

He went on to add that although he wouldn't be doing it, he'd heard that Ellie Goulding was now the key name in the frame, adding: "I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, I heard loads of different things. It's definitely not me."

Smith is currently recovering after vocal surgery and is due to resume his tour in support of debut album In The Lonely Hour in the coming weeks.

Details of SPECTRE were unveiled before Christmas by director Sam Mendes, the film sees Christoph Waltz, Monica Belucci and Lea Seydoux joining the cast and Daniel Craig returning as Bond for a fourth time.

Waltz will play a character named Oberhauser, Belucci will play a character named Lucia Sciarra, while Blue Is The Warmest Colour star Lea Seydoux will portray a character named Madeleine Swann. In the trailer we get a brief look at Belucci's character and we hear from Oberhauser, though his face is never shown.

Sherlock star Andrew Scott is also joining the cast, playing a character named Denbigh who works at MI6. He will join the returning Rory Kinnear, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris, who all reprise their roles. Guardians Of The Galaxy star Dave Bautista is also in the cast, playing a henchman named Mr Hinx.

The film will be released in the UK on October 23rd and in the US and Canada on November 6th in 2015.  It is the follow-up to Skyfall, which is available for purchase here in our online store.
