Black Rat

by DZ Deathrays

Released on Infectious

Black Rat is an altogether more rounded affair than DZ Deathrays debut, and just as intoxicating.

Despite additional instrumentation on the album, it is only as a complement to the solid foundations laid out by the fun loving 2-piece. It's never overdone or intrusive however, and 'Fixations' even strips things back to the point of being reminiscent of a rowdier LCD Soundsystem.

'Less Out Of Sync' thunders along on the back of drums and octave shifted guitar, as does 'Ocean Exploder', but both benefit from the depth the extra layers provide.
