Taylor Swift announces new album 1989 and unveils new single 'Shake It Off'

Taylor Swift has announced that her new album will be titled 1989 and it will be released in October. 

The singer confirmed tonight (August 18th) that the follow-up to the hugely successful Red will be released on October 27th. 

Swift also unveiled the first single from the album which is titled 'Shake It Off', you can watch the video, which is directed by Mark Romanek, below by scrolling down to the bottom of the page. 

The singer announced the album in a Yahoo livestream in New York and has revealed that the title was inspired by her love of music from the 1980s. 

Swift also debuted the 1989 cover, a Polaroid photo with "T.S. 1989" written underneath. Each physical copy, she said, will come with a packet of 13 photos, though the photos will differ from copy to copy. In addition, she'll continue to hide secret messages within the album's liner copy.
