71, The Imitation Game and Pride lead nominations for the British Independent Film Awards

'71, Pride, The Imitation Game and Mr Turner lead the nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards.

'71, which stars Jack O'Connell and tells the story of a British soldier who becomes separated from his unit during a riot in Belfast at the height of the Troubles in 1971, has the most nods with nine in all, including a Best Actor nod for O'Connell, who will duke it out with the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Asa Butterfield and Timothy Spall for the gong.

Pride, the LGBT comedy set during the miner's strike, has seven nominations in all, with Mr Turner and Catch Me Daddy netting five each, the latter of which sees Sameena Jabeen Ahmed nominated for Best Actress, where she faces competition from Keira Knightley and Alice Vikander.
