Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie - What You Need To Know

It’s been five years since the beloved sitcom made its final bow on UK television and 13 years since the show’s final series ended, but it lives again on the big screen. Here’s everything you need to know about Patsy and Edie’s debut on the silver screen...

Who’s in it?

Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are naturally both back as Edie and Patsy, while series regulars Julia Sawalha, June Whitfield and Jane Horrocks are all back. There are also small roles for Mark Gatiss, Kathy Burke, Glee’s Chris Colfer and the odd cameo, more on that below...

And Who’s Directing?

Mandie Fletcher, who directed the series’ later episodes, is behind the camera. She works from a script from Saunders.

Any cameos?

Just a few. Abbey Clancy, Alesha Dixon, Alex Jones, Alexa Chung, Alice Dellal, Anya Hindmarch, Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna Everage, Beattie Edmondson, Bip Ling, Brix Smith-Start, Bruno Tonioli, Camilla Rutherford, Chris Colfer, Christopher Biggins, Daisy Lowe, Daniel Lismore, Dawn French, Ella Eyre, Foxes, Graham Norton, Giles Deacon, Gwendoline Christie, Jade Parfitt, Jamie Laing, Jean Paul Gaultier, Janette Tough, Jeremy Paxman, Jerry Hall, Joan Collins, Jodie Harsh, Jourdan Dunn, Judith Chalmers, Kate Moss, Kathy Lette, Kelly Hoppen, Kirsty Wark, La Roux, La Voix, Lara Stone, Lily Cole, Marcia Warren, Mark Gatiss, Miquita Oliver, Nick Grimshaw, Nick Mohammed, Orla Guerin, Ozwald Boateng, Pam Hogg, Perez Hilton, Poppy Delevingne, Richard Arnold, Robert Webb, Rylan Clark, Sadie Frost, Sophie Raworth, Stella McCartney, Suki Waterhouse, Suzy Menkes, Tinie Tempah and Wanda Ventham all show up at one point or another.

What’s The Plot?

Edie and Patsy might be living like they’re still 22, but they’re now in their 60s; Edie is still running her PR agency, which is quickly running out of money and they soon realise that they need a miracle to save the company. Then, on the off chance, they discover that Kate Moss is changing her PR and a plan is hatched to convince her to sign with Edie. Unfortunately, in her desperation to impress the model, Edie winds up accidentally knocking Kate Moss into the River Thames, forcing the pair to hide out in the south of France to avoid press and police interrogation. Sadly, even though they are meant to be in hiding, it turns out they aren't terribly good at keeping a low profile...

Does It Deliver?

If this is the last we see of Edie and Patsy then it’s a fabulous way to cap things off. It keeps the series’ perfect mixture of sharp wit and slapstick set pieces and there are cameos for days, enjoy spotting them all...
