"It has the gore and the horror, but it's a unique new journey" - Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston and more talk making Alien: Covenant
Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien has not only become a classic and a high watermark for the genre, it has also spawned numerous sequels and become one of the biggest film franchises in the world, sitting alongside the likes of Star Wars and Harry Potter.
The last time we got a look at the Xenomorph was in 2012's Prometheus, which saw Scott return to the director's chair for the first time since the original 1979 film and began to establish the origins of the most fearsome aliens in cinematic history.
This week the saga continues with Alien: Covenant, which picks up where Prometheus left off and follows the mission of the starship covenant and its crew on their journey to establish a new colony in a distant galaxy, only to find that the planet isn't quite as empty as they thought.
With the film arriving in cinemas this week and available to pre-order on DVD, Blu-Ray and Steelbook (exclusive to hmv) on the right-hand side of the page, we spoke to cast members Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and Billy Crudup about what we can expect from the latest instalment in the Alien franchise.
