All-female remake of Lord Of The Flies given go-ahead

A new adaptation of iconic literary classic Lord Of The Flies has been announced, but with a new twist, the new version will be all-female.

Scott McGehee and David Siegel, who last worked together on acclaimed 2012 drama What Maisie Knew, have signed up to write and direct the movie for Warner Brothers.

According to Deadline, the pair pitched the new take to Warner Brothers, who then secured the rights to Golding's books.

Lord Of The Flies is the story of a group of boys who are stranded on a desert island after their plane crashes. After a brief attempt at establishing order, the boys revert to savagery with bloody consequences.

No cast details are in place as yet.

You can check out the original movie here in hmv's online store.
