Ant-Man - Five Reasons You’ll Love It

After scoring another billion dollar hit with Avengers: Age Of Ultron earlier this summer, Marvel are now introducing a new hero to audiences, Ant-Man.

Starring Paul Rudd as the titular hero, with Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly,  John Slattery, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña and rapper TI and Corey Stoll all in other key roles, this new adventure has all the hallmarks of another box office smash.

Rudd plays Scott Lang, a master thief who has just gotten out of prison and is struggling to put his life back together, with no job, no ability to pay child support and thus no way to see his daughter. He finds unlikely salvation in Doctor Hank Pym (Douglas), a genius inventor who has gone into hiding after losing control of his company, which he lost after desperately trying to suppress the technology that made the Ant-Man suit, i.e. the ability to become the size of an ant whenever you like and sneak it just about anywhere.

He needs Lang because his former protégée Darren Cross (Stoll) is close to replicating his formula and Pym knows that he must be stopped, or the world will be in grave danger. With the help of Lang, his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly) and a motley crew of Lang’s gang of ex-cons, they must plan and pull off a dangerous heist. But can they?

Ant-Man hits DVD shelves today (November 30th), but we caught an early screening and bring you five reasons you’ll love it...

Paul Rudd kills it…

When Rudd was confirmed as the star of this movie, the general feeling was “It’s about time”. There aren’t many actors who are as widely liked as Rudd is and this film shows off exactly why. He’s charming, funny and full of charisma, he’s also been in the gym, a lot...

The action sequences are incredible…

Whether Ant-Man is big or small, the set pieces in this movie are out of this world.

Edgar Wright’s script is full of killer one liners…

He might not be in the director’s chair, but the Hot Fuzz director’s touch is all over this film. His script, co-written with Joe Cornish, is laugh out loud funny and has more brilliant gags than most comedies you’ll see this year.

Corey Stoll is an excellent villain…

As Darren Cross, Pym’s one-time prodigy, the House Of Cards star makes an excellent foe for Rudd. Dark with a touch of the demented to his performance, he’s on top form here.

It all ties up neatly with the Marvel Cinematic Universe…

It’s getting pretty crowded up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there’s definitely room for Ant-Man. And, judging by the end of the movie, he’s going to have a big role in its future…

Ant-Man will be in cinemas from Friday (July 17th) and will be released on DVD later this year.
