Billy Boyd to sing over the closing credits of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

Billy Boyd, best known for playing Peregrin 'Pippin' Took in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, is to sing the song that will be played over the closing credits on The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies.

Boyd, who also sang on a track named 'The Edge Of Night' over the closing credits of The Return Of The King, will sing a track titled 'The Last Goodbye', which he'll perform over the end credits.

The track has been written by Boyd, in collaboration with Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh, the film's writers.

Boyd joins Crowded House frontman Neil Finn and Ed Sheeran in supplying a song for the end credits of The Hobbit.

Finn contributed a song named 'Song Of The Lonely Mountain' for the closing credits of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, while Sheeran's track 'I See Fire' was played over the end credits of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.

The Hobbit: The Battles Of The Five Armies will be released into cinemas on December 12th this year and will come out on DVD in 2015. You can watch the trailer for the film below.
