Blended – Five Things We Learned…

Blended sees Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore attempt to follow the success of The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates by teaming up once again in a romantic comedy.

This time Sandler and Barrymore play single parents, grappling with all the issues that come with parenting with no partners to turn to.

Set up on a blind date, which goes horribly, some bizarre circumstances they somehow find themselves on holiday together, with their kids…

We caught an early screening and here are five things we learned…

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore still have chemistry…

There’s a reason why this team-up has worked in the past, Barrymore and Sandler have undoubtable chemistry and spar very well.  Engaging, light-hearted and very watchable, when they’re on screen together, the film is at its best.

This is a comedy but there’s a big ol’ message with it…

From the outset, the film makes it clear that this just isn’t knockabout fun, the message that there’s life after divorce and that new families can be formed and come together is broadcast loud and clear. This may turn some people off, but does give the film a whole lot of heart.

There’s a strange singing choir that follow the leads around…

Expendables hardman Terry Crews, presumably after a bit of variety, plays the lead singer of a choir who follow the guests around, imparting advice through the medium of song. This with either leave you thoroughly nonplussed or laughing like a hyena, let’s hope it’s the latter…

There’s just enough slapstick comedy…

Every Adam Sandler movies needs its allotment of people falling over, banging into things and general gross out tropes. There’s just enough of that here.

This won’t be to everyone’s taste, but that’s okay…

This is a great film to take the family to, or a girl/boy you've just met. It's a light-hearted evening out, nothing too heavy, or too gross. Sometimes that's just what you want...

Blended is out in cinemas now.
