Bono's daughter Eve Hewson to star as Maid Marian in Robin Hood reboot
The Knick star Eve Hewson is to star as Maid Marian in Lionsgate's new reboot of Robin Hood.
According to Deadline, Hewson, who is the daughter of U2 frontman Bono, will take the key female role in the new reboot and saw off competition from Supernova star Gaite Jansen, Vampire Academy's Lucy Fry and Beyond The Lights star Gugu Mbatha-Raw to win the role.
Kingsman: The Secret Service's Taron Egerton will take the lead in the movie, which will shoot next summer after Egerton completes work on the sequel to Kingsman.
The reboot is currently titled Robin Hood: Origins and will be directed by Otto Bathurst, best known for his work directing Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror. It is set to take the character back to his roots and discover how he became the iconic outlaw.
Robin Hood was last on the big screen in 2010 with Russell Crowe starring as the titular hero in a movie directed by Ridley Scott. You can check that movie out here in our online store.
