Chris Rock to host the Oscars in 2016

Chris Rock is to host the Oscars next year. 

The actor and comedian, who previously hosted the Oscars in 2005, will take charge of next year's ceremony, which is confirmed to take place on February 28th next year at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. 

Speaking about the announcement, Rock said: "I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars. It's good to be back."

Oscars producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin added: "Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry. Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian - he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!"


The Oscars were hosted in 2015 by Gone Girl star Neil Patrick Harris.
