Christian Bale pulls out of Enzo Ferrari biopic over health concerns
Christian Bale has dropped out of a new biopic of Ferrari founder and car mogul Enzo Ferrari.
According to Deadline, Bale, who is currently promoting financial drama The Big Short, has dropped out of the movie after deciding he did not want to gain the weight necessary to play Ferrari.
The movie will be directed by Michael Mann, best known for being behind the camera on Heat and Ali. Mann, who previously directed Bale in 2009 gangster epic Public Enemies, has been developing the movie for a full 15 years and will now begin the search for a new leading man.
The film has a script from The Italian Job’s Troy Kennedy Martin and is scheduled to shoot this summer. It is based on Brock Yates’ 1991 book Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races.
