Daddy's Home: What You Need To Know

Adam McKay's 2010 comedy The Other Guys saw Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell team up as a pair of incompetent cops taking on a shady businessman and providing plenty of laughs in the process, but now they're on screen together again under the direction of Horrible Bosses 2 director Sean Anders for his new film Daddy's Home.

Anders' new comedy arrives in stores on Monday (May 2nd), here's everything you need to know about it...

Who's in it?

Alongside the pairing of Wahlberg and Ferrell is a cast that includes Linda Cardellini, Thomas Hayden Church, Bobby Cannavale, Hannibal Buress and Bill Burr, as well as budding young talents Owen Vaccaro and Scarlett Estevez.

What's the plot?

Ferrell plays Brad Whitaker, a well-meaning, mild-mannered radio executive who is stepfather to two children from the first marriage of his wife, Sara (Cardellini). Brad is trying his bet to be a good father to the children, with limited success, but just as Brad is starting to make some progress with the children, things take a turn for the worse when the kids' biological father, Dusty Mayron (Wahlberg) suddenly arrives back on the scene.

Dusty wants to win back Sara and the kids, so the two men soon find themselves pitched against each other in an ever-escalating battle to win their affection, including building treehouses, buying dogs and ponies and even attempting the half way line challenge at the basketball game, but things don't always go to plan...

Does it deliver?

Ferrell and Wahlberg have developed some impressive on-screen chemistry and if you enjoyed The Other Guys then there's every chance you'll find plenty to like about Daddy's Home. Everything is played for laughs and you're unlikely to pick up any parenting tips here, but if you're a fan of Will Ferrell in particular this is worth a look. Check out the trailer below.
